Background
This internship opportunity became available due to my working relationship with my internship supervisor throughout the Spring 2019 semester. Courtney had reached out to me because I am the president of the URI Powerlifting Club. She wanted to learn more about how the club runs, our goals for our members, and what we do in a typical semester. I maintained contact in case an opportunity for Campus Recreation and URI Powerlifting could collaborate in any way. Over the summer I emailed her asking if it would be possible for me to complete my internship during the Spring 2020 semester, and she said yes. I ended up making this decision because I am familiar with the clients of the facilities. This internship provides me the ability to obtain experience in gym maintenance and program development and implementation.
